Yesterday In class, Ms. Stoklosa assigned students to 4 different groups. The point of the groups was to share and hopefully, get some advice on things we are having trouble with and how we can improve our portfolio projects.
So during the group session, I mentioned how I had already begun the script of my film and essentially how I would like it to turn out. I explained how since the film is so short I have to cut down a lot of ideas that I would like to incorporate. However, I would like to highlight the 'moments' of connection between the characters in the film. The members of my group agreed and thought it was ideal to demonstrate how the character's relationship begins to unravel. One of my peers mentioned something that I have been thinking about, which is how am I going to find actors. Yes, I do have the two protagonists picked, since it is Natalia my partner in the project, and her boyfriend Howard, but since there are other minor characters involved, I have to begin thinking about potential actors. I recently watched a film that my friend made and the actors were amazing, and when I asked, she told me that it was students in AMT also known as the drama club. So, I will definitely give them a look at this film. I know the biggest problem that everyone had wasn't the idea itself, but rather ac actually beginning the process and finding people to act in their films and music videos.
Another thing we talked about was our schedules. Since I am going on a school trip to California for a Student Television Network competition, i will be missing school. It's not a big deal since I think we have most of our story down, I just would really like to be done with my script to begin the shot list process. I have to keep following the schedule. But my partner is a great help and knows I will be leaving for a few days, we are on track and are so excited to see the end results.
It was interesting and fun to see where everyone else is and how they're doing in their portfolios, I know a lot of people are having trouble keeping up with the blogs. But unlike last year, iv been finding them very insightful and helpful. They almost force me to make sure to keep on track with my project.
